Waterford, Conn.: Aberthaw has been awarded the contract for construction of renovations to Walmart Store #2331 located at 155 Waterford Parkway North. The work of the $1.2 Million contract calls for a general remodel of the exterior and interior of the existing 201,755 sq. ft. retail superstore, and also includes a refresh of back-of-house areas and the relocation and/or addition of several departments on the sales floor. Additionally, grocery elements will be overhauled and expanded, which is in keeping with the retail giant’s continued growth in the retail grocery sector. Work is scheduled to begin in late March with completion expected in mid-June; Grand Opening will be held in late June 2015.
This latest award will be Aberthaw’s seventeenth project for Walmart since it completed its first Walmart location in June 2009. It is also Aberthaw’s third recently awarded Walmart project to be built in 2015; other recent contracts include one for a new Sam’s Club with detached fuel station to be built in Norfolk, Va., which was awarded in December 2014, and another for the general remodel of Store #3200 in Weymouth, Mass., which was awarded earlier today.
